Dr. Nadja Wilker

“Scientists, politicians, and citizens often speak their own distinct language. I consider myself as a ‘translator’, someone who fosters meaningful exchanges and helps all those involved better understand one another.”

As a science communicator and doctor of political science, I have been working at the intersection of science, society, and politics for many years now. In my research at the Düsseldorf Institute for Internet and Democracy, I focus on digital political participation and communication. I am particularly interested in the perspective of the “addressees” of participation - i.e. people in political, administrative, and scientific organizations.

From 2019 to 2024, I contributed to the establishment and strategic development of advisory science communication structures as a science communication officer in the Rectorate of the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. I was responsible for designing and implementing specific transfer formats and events, and I actively promoted exchanges between the university and political institutions. Notable projects include a collaboration with the North Rhine-Westphalian State Parliament and the successful acquisition of BMBF funding for the Science Years 2023 and 2024.

As a fellow of SCI:MOVE, I combine my expertise in participatory research and science communication. I support the team in planning and implementing research and evaluation projects, as well as in designing and moderating workshops focused on science communication and public engagement.
