Dr. Anna Soßdorf
"Citizen science and science communication are contemporary approaches for me to integrate the diverse voices, varied ideas, and creative approaches of citizens into research. Simultaneously, we make science accessible and tangible for all, contributing to a democratic and sustainable knowledge society."
Since completing my Ph.D. in Communication and Media Studies at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf with the thesis "Jugendliche und Politik - zwischen Like-Button und Parteibuch” (Youth and Politics - Between the Like Button and Party Membership) in 2015, I have been working as a freelance speaker, trainer, and consultant.
My thematic focus areas include:
- digital and political youth participation
- digital education and skills
- citizen science and science communication.
From 2023 to 2024, I conducted research on digital participation and democracy at the FZI Research Center for Information Technology in Berlin. Prior to this, from 2019 to 2022, I worked in research and teaching at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, specializing in participation and citizen science. From 2017 to 2018, I was Head of the Vocational and Digital Education Department at the Cologne Adult Education Centre. From 2007 to 2012, I worked as a research assistant in the media industry department at the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences in Cologne.
